I pouted from my spot by our bags and watched as my friends disappeared into the crowd of people who’d gathered to celebrate. “They better bring me back something.” I hissed under my breath and turned to survey the crowd around myself. I pulled the zipper on my jacket down and the sun reflected the letters ‘Bite Me’ written on the t-shirt beneath it. My hand moved into the pockets of my jeans and pulled out a piece of gum, which flew into my mouth.

I blew a bubble then popped it. That’s when I saw him and for a moment my breathing stopped. Ten feet from me stood the most gorgeous boy I’d ever laid my eyes on. He looked the same age as me, the 16-18 range. His jet-black hair moved gently as the wind ruffled it then pushed it back into place. His icy blue eyes scanned the crowd around him and paused on me for a moment, again I stopped breathing.

He smiled softly and waved. I blinked looking around and when no one else waved I turned back around and found him standing two feet before me. I jumped surprised by how close he’d gotten. He laughed.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you.” He said softly.

I nodded. “It’s okay.” I murmured as my eyes scanned over his outfit. He wore a baggy black t-shirt that read ‘I don’t bite…much’ across it, which I found a bit ironic considering my shirt, and lose-fitting blue jeans, with a chain coming from the top pocket around to, what I’ll assume is, his wallet. He coughed softly and my eyes jumped back up to him. “Eh heh, sorry…” I muttered when I realized I’d just be staring at him up and down.

He smiled. “No problem…I was looking at you too.” He winked and I felt the blush cross my cheeks.

“Um...I’m Raven.” I said holding out my hand.

“Alexander.” He said taking my hand and kissing it. “Pleasure to meet you.”

I laughed. “Most guys would just shake my hand.” I muttered.

“Well, I’m not most guys.” He said nodding softly.

I paused looking around. “Are you here alone?” I wondered.

He half-smiled. “Sort of.” My heart sank. “I’m here with some friends, they said coming here and meeting others would be good for me, and the sun couldn’t hurt.” He said laughing.

“Oh.” I muttered. “My friends brought me too, they think I spend to much time in my room. They say we’ll have fun then ditch me with their junk to get food.” I sighed kicking a bag softly. “So, where are you from? Jersey?”

He shook his head. “No, I’m from New York.”

“Oh, must have been a interesting drive down.”

“You have no idea.” He muttered softly.

I blinked. “Why, what happened?”

A small smile spread across his face, “Maybe we should sit down, this could take a few minuets to tell.” He said and led the way to a ‘bar’ that’d been setup not far from where our stuff was, this way we could keep an eye on it as well as sit. Smart boy. A man came up and asked what we’d like to drink. “Coke.” Alexander muttered then glanced at me.

“Make it two.” I said smiling at the man then turned back to Alexander. “So, what happened?”

He sighed. “It started with my friend Edward saying that he’d gotten permission to take his families camper down to New Jersey for the Jersey Jam. He’d asked Kyle, Mike and myself to come down with him. He said we’d meet a lot of good looking chicks to hang out with.” He laughed softly. “Anyway, Saturday afternoon we packed all our stuff into the camper and started down, Ed figured it would be maybe a two day trip?” his voice wavered, sounding unsure himself.

“So with everything loaded we said goodbye to our families and took off. It doesn’t take a fight long to brake out in a small camper with four guys.” Alexander sighed. “We made the mistake of letting Mike and Kyle bring a Playstation 2 on the trip down and they got into a whole ‘he cheated’, ‘my controller’s broken’ stupid fight, ya know?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been in those fights.” I murmured and laughed softly.

“Well, soon it turned into a little food fight; chips, cheetoes, pretzels, you name it they were throwing it. It was a mess, took two hours to clean it, then another hour to clean up themselves. They looked like a new kind of chip combo, covered with the food and soda.” He laughed remembering the sight. “That was just the first of what shall now be know as ‘Killer Trip ‘07’.” He nodded.

“Killer Trip?” I repeated and took a sip of the coke that had arrived during his story. “What made it a Killer trip?”

He smiled, and for a moment I thought I saw a fang in his mouth. “Well, not a real killer, you know. Just killer as in a good trip.” He said and laughed softly. “I can only imagine what will happen on the trip home.”

“So…what do you do in New York?” I asked softly, spinning my finger around the edge of the glass.

He raised an eyebrow then it fell. “Well I work in a Barnes and Noble.” He muttered thinking. “And for fun I play pool and read.” He said looking into my eyes. “And of course I listen to music.” He smiled his gorgeous smile. “What about you?”

I sighed. “We’ll I’m currently jobless.” I shook my head. “And similarly I like to read and listen to music for fun.” I smiled then added. “I also enjoy writing, mostly fictional stories with vampires and other creatures of the night. They’re fascinating ya know?” I said glancing at him, any normal person probably didn’t get my fascination with the undead creatures of the night but Alexander looked like he knew exactly what I was talking about. “So, what kind of music do you like?”

“Eh, I’ll listen to just about everything except jazz and gospel.” He said then nodded towards the speakers set up at the bar, through which the song ‘Angel to You, Devil to Me’ by The Click Five played. “Like this is a good song.”

“Have a favorite band?” I asked taking another sip of my coke.

He shrugged taking a drink from his coke. “It changes regularly.” He muttered. “Sometimes it’s one band then another will catch my ear.”

I nodded knowing well what he meant. I finished off my soda. “I guess I should get back before my friends do.” I muttered glancing over at the bags I was supposed to be watching.

Alexander nodded. “Yeah…” He stood and I followed suit.

I paused then couldn’t help but ask, “So…will I see you again?”

He smiled and pulled out a pen from his pocket then grabbed a napkin and wrote down a number and e-mail. “Any time you want.” He laughed handing me the napkin.

I smiled. “Good. Oh wait.” I muttered and ripped off part of the napkin. “Pen.” I said holding out my hand and he placed the pen in it. I wrote down my number and e-mail then handed it back to him. “So you can reach me too.”

He laughed softly and put the napkin in his wallet. “Right.”

“Alexander!” A loud voice called from our left, I turned to see a blonde boy running towards us. “There you are.”

“Hey Mike.” He muttered and turned to face him. “What’s up?”

“Um,” He muttered glancing at me. “We were going to go eat and wanted to know if you were coming?”

Alexander glanced at me then back at Mike. “Uh…”

“Rea!” This time a girls voice interrupted us and I turned to see a raven-hair girl coming over with food in her hands. I turned to tell Alexander to go ahead, but both he and Mike had vanished. “Hey Rea, here’s your chow.” She said handing a hamburger to me.

“Uh, thanks Katie. Did you see me with some guys just a second ago?” I asked glancing around at the crowd unable to pull Alexander or Michael’s face from it.

“Um..” Katie scratched her chin as the other girls walked up. “No, why you met a guy?”

“What? We got food and Rea-Rea got herself a man!?” Michelle yelled elbowing me. “Sooo un-fair.”

I smiled softly. “Yea…right.”

“So, tell us about him, spill it all.” Jess said smiling.

I blinked looking around then I began with a smile and they’re full attention. “Okay…His name is Alexander…”

This was an old school project for english class. I think it turned out pretty well. The assignment was to write a short story about attending a big state party known as the Jersey Jam, meet a person and then tell someone about the person you met there.
